Working on the development of the Veteran Wellness Center for over a year, and in her role since July 2020, Kimberly has a passion for wellness and for learning the best ways to stay healthy and heal difficult to treat conditions. A spouse to a disabled veteran and the mother of a special needs child, she saw the need for education and advocacy in our healthcare system firsthand. Kimberly entered into a career in public health and wellness well into her adult life. Additionally, Kimberly oversees all aspects of wellness for the Endeavors Veteran Wellness Center and facilitates three internal wellness events each week for Endeavors employees. As a key part of her position, Kimberly helps to develop the Endeavors Wellness program both internally and for clients, equipping people with tools to enhance their own personal wellness. She now enjoys trail running, rock climbing, hiking, and playing with her two French Bulldogs.Īs the Director of Wellness, Kimberly Anderson acts as an advocate for wellness throughout the Endeavors organization. Prior to finding her calling in the counseling field, Laura served as an Arabic Linguist in the U.S. She also has specialized training in Prolonged Exposure, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Imagery Rehearsal Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and CBT for Chronic Pain. Laura has facilitated several groups, including CBT-Depression, CBT-PTSD, Coping with Military Sexual Trauma, and DBT Skills Group. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Endeavors in September 2022 and was promoted to Supervising Clinician in November 2022. Before leaving federal employment, she was a team lead and clinic manager for one of the VA’s Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Programs. She became an LPC Supervisor in 2020 and worked with LPC Interns and Associates within the South Texas VA’s training programs. Laura relocated with her wife, Judith, to San Antonio in 2016 and took a position as a licensed professional mental health counselor at the Audie Murphy VA, where she was a member of the Dialectical Behavioral Therapy team for South Texas, served as the Women’s Mental Health Coordinator, and was on the LGBTQ+ advisory committee. She worked for three years as a Readjustment Counseling Therapist for the Columbus, Ohio Vet Center, specializing in trauma treatment for combat veterans and those who had experienced military sexual trauma. Laura completed her Master’s program in 2013 after an internship at the VA Medical Center in Erie, Pennsylvania. Palmer is experienced in treating trauma, depression, and anxiety in children, families, Veterans, and active-duty populations. With over 18 years of experience as a licensed clinical social worker, Dr. She also provided the research and the structure to the implementation of the Virtual Employee Wellness program at Endeavors, an initiative that provided daily wellness activities to over 350 employees for 13 months during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Palmer’s background in mental health delivery, along with her experience with diverse teams and virtual work environments, allowed for a 100% transition to remote work and telehealth services to over 400 active clients at the Cohen Clinics in March, 2020. Passionate about leading healthy, productive, and innovative teams, she has led teams of social workers, psychiatrists, and other medical and mental health personnel, provided program oversight for multiple programs, developed policies and procedures to implement evidence-based practices, and has managed program budgets.ĭr. Palmer has over a decade of leadership experience through both the Navy and the private sector. Palmer’s expertise by focusing on the integration of mental health, physical health, and recovery services built upon a foundation of wellness principles.ĭr. A state of the art facility in San Antonio, Texas, the Veteran Wellness Center utilizes Dr. Palmer has spearheaded the implementation of the Endeavors Veteran Wellness Center. With her research focus on Veterans, suicide prevention, and quality of life, Dr. Palmer, a Navy Veteran, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and 2019 graduate of the Doctor of Social Work program at the University of Tennessee, serves as Endeavors’ first Chief of Behavioral Health.
